While she’s been fascinated by the great Chomolungma/Sagarmatha for years, the revelation of her solo expedition to the base of the world’s highest peak surprises even herself. Donning hiking books for the first time in years in April, she committed to rigorous training. Culminating in a remarkable ascent to 17,598 feet six months later.  

Maria’s story serves as a testament to her journey of self-discovery and resilience. Through her story she not only rekindles her own faith but aspires to ignite a similar flame within yourself. Meet your presenter: Maria Lamarca Anderson 
Maria Lamarca Anderson is the director of communications at UW Bothell. She is also a caregiver, an avid outdoorswoman, an arts patron, a world traveler and community volunteer. She refers to herself as a “marketer by profession, adventurer by passion, peacemaker by providence and performer by provenance.”
