Travel back in time to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Northern Pacific Railroad in Tacoma. Embark with WSHS to explore why the City of Destiny was named as the terminus for the Northern Pacific Railroad and consider the legacy of this decision. Local historian and UW Tacoma faculty member Michael Sullivan will be presenting on Tacoma’s tumultuous sprint to the finish line to become the “City of Destiny” and what it took to finish the Northern Pacific Railroad in the weeks leading up to its completion. Alchemy Skate Shop will be there offering screen printing for participants so they can take a t-shirt home, and Write253 will be offering a letter press opportunity as well! There will be refreshments, a bar, and a signature themed cocktail at the event. Dress to impress in your favorite period attire! This evening of food, fun, and history is a 21+ event; IDs are required. Guests will receive two drink tickets. $20 for members; $25 pre-registration, $30 at the door |
