EXAMINING (AND PROMOTING) CRITICAL CONSCIOUSNESS IN DIFFERENT GROUPS OF ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS

Dr. Hershberg will present some of her research on
how adolescents and young adults from different racial,
ethnic, and SES backgrounds think about injustices in
society and take actions to address them—what
philosopher Paolo Freire conceptualized as Critical
Consciousness (CC). Dr. Hershberg will briefly describe
some of her research with migrant adolescents, White
