Psychology Research Seminar Series - Dr. Chris Beasley
Psychology Research Seminar Series - Dr. Chris Beasley
WhenWednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, 12:30 – 1:15 p.m.
Description

Community-Based Participatory Action Research for Prison-to-College Transitions

While research strives to be an objective process, it is inherently biased in many ways. Empirical strategies are employed to limit these biases; however, subjectivity remains in two stages of most inquiry--the development of research questions and interpretation of results. Dr. Beasley will discuss these biases and a strategy for limiting them as well as a way to answer questions most useful to communities –  Community Based Participatory Action  Research  (CBPAR). He will further discuss the process through which he is using CBPAR to better understand barriers and facilitators of prison to college transitions.
