NSF Day
WhenFriday, Oct. 6, 2017, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Description

NSF Day at UW Tacoma is designed for faculty at universities or community and technical colleges, and supporting staff, who are interested in pursuing external grant support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for curricular and programmatic initiatives; but who are unfamiliar with present NSF funding opportunities, and/or lack grant writing experience.

This free workshop will provide a hands-on overview of funding opportunities at NSF, the basic components of an NSF grant proposal, and specific strategies you can use to effectively formulate and communicate your ideas as part of a competitive grant proposal.

Dr. Stephanie E. August, Program Director for Computer Science Education within NSF’s Division of Undergraduate Education, will lead the workshop.

This workshop will consist of presentations, interactive activities, and discussions to illustrate grant writing strategies and strengthen your grant writing skills. A mock grant review panel will give you the opportunity to review and critique actual NSF grant proposals. Expert application tips will be shared by a panel of faculty who have secured NSF grants for undergraduate education and research. Finally, the workshop will allow you a chance to discuss your own grant proposal ideas with both the presenter and your peers. Collaborative ideas are welcomed!

This event is open to community and technical college and university faculty. Supporting staff may attend, if accompanied by one or more faculty members from the same institution, as NSF requires faculty leadership of grant funded projects.

Coffee/refreshments in the morning, and a working lunch at noon will be provided at no cost.

Thank you for such an enthusiastic response, registration has closed for this event.
