ABA: The Basics for Providers

Description

This introductory training is specifically designed for professionals working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).  The training will begin with an overview of ASD including core symptoms, strengths, and challenges.  How ASD symptoms impact learning and behavior will also be discussed.  Next, an introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) will be presented including what it is, an overview of different ABA approaches, and basic behavioral principles used in this therapeutic approach.  Finally, additional behavioral support strategies such as reinforcement, punishment, and teaching loops will be discussed.  Space is limited!

Participants will:
•Learn how the characteristics of ASD impact learning
•Gain a basic understanding of ABA principles, including reinforcement, punishment, prompting, and teaching loops.
•Learn how to teach students or clients with ASD using fundamental behavioral strategies
