TCAT Holiday Toy Hackathon

WhereMakerspace in McCarty Hall, THE MILL
Description

The Taskar Center for Accessible Technology (at the Paul G. Allen School) invites the UW community to participate in a unique volunteer event.

Many toys can turn into puzzles or frustrations for children with limited motor abilities or developmental disabilities. Off-the-shelf toys often require a certain amount of force or dexterity to activate, making it difficult or impossible for some children to play with them.

On Nov. 11 at the TCAT Holiday Toy Hackathon, community volunteers will
disassemble and rewire toys  to make them more accessible for children with disabilities. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Washington’s new Makerspace in McCarty Hall, THE MILL.
