Please join us, either in-person or online, for the third presentation of the 2023-24 Digital History Colloquium Series. YouTube has emerged as the most influential video platform globally, with Google statistics showing that 86% of US viewers use it to learn new skills and knowledge. History content ranks among the most popular on the platform, yet few YouTubers have formal training in history. PhD Candidate David Ting-chieh Ou-yang produces a Chinese-language YouTube channel, which covers a wide range of historical events and has attracted over 50,000 subscribers. Drawing on his experience, he will explore why it is crucial for historians and scholars in adjacent fields to engage with YouTube history content, and how they can effectively do so using Adobe After Effects and other software tools As always, the Digital History Colloquium offers a casual forum for the exchange of ideas, with sessions limited to one hour. So feel free to bring lunch, and come as you are! |
