The Translation Studies Hub is delighted to announce a recent gift made by Lee Scheingold, a cherished member of the UW community; this gift will enable annual weeklong visits to Seattle by major literary translators in 2024, 2025, and 2026. The inaugural visitor during this academic year will be Anton Hur, a prolific translator from the Korean and himself a compelling writer on the art and practice of translation. He will deliver a series of public talks and workshops for students, faculty, members of the public, and local translators during the week of April 29-May 3, 2024.
