While the dominant discourse on the relationship between Jews and Christians throughout the pre-modern era is determined by the sense of doom and gloom regarding the Jewish suffering, the actual situation on the ground was probably quite different. This talk will draw from a variety of literary texts that, despite being fictional, project a much more complex situation.
