Description

Short, snappy, entertaining: Scandinavian 30 is a series of free, thirty-minute talks by UW Scandinavian Studies faculty the second Thursday of every month at 7:00PM at the Nordic Museum. The talks will tell you what you really need to know about Scandinavia to understand it.

UW Scandinavian Professors share their insight and cutting-edge ideas in Academia in an informal setting at the Nordic Museum. Drinks available for purchase in the bar.

Hans Christian Andersen – Fairy Tales and Science Fiction
Already in the 1850s, the famous writer of fairy tales looked into the future and imagined life in the next millennium.  Andersen was inspired by the latest science, technology and forms of transportation.  Andersen's futuristic fairy tales, a kind of science fiction, are both prophetic and fanciful -  and not well known by many!
