Description

Interactive maps are a time-tested staple of digital public history--but what if you also want your map to serve as a functional database for academic researchers? Tableau, a data vizualization and analytics platform better known for its business applications, can be a surprisingly effective tool for reaching both audiences, combining accessible visuals with the ability to build complex search queries. Join us to hear about 2018 Digital History Summer Fellow Adrian Kane's mapping project "Queer London and the Law", and for a discussion of the pleasures and pitfalls of adapting a program to a purpose its designers (and tutorial writers!) did not originally envision.
