Manjushree Thapa is one of Nepal's preeminent English language writers. In this talk she will explore the role the imagination, specifically the literary imagination, has played in nation-building in Nepal and narrative strategies that tend to promote exclusionary, rather than inclusionary, notions of the nation. Manjushree will also talk about her own writing and how she has tried to promote a more inclusionary vision of the nation within it.
