Union Time: Fighting for Workers' Rights. Film screening and Q&A with Gene Bruskin, lead organizer of the Justice at Smithfield campaign.

Union Time chronicles the struggle for safety and higher wages at the Smithfield pork processing plant in Tar Heel, North Carolina. In 2008, a majority of the 5,000 workers at the plant successfully voted to form a union in one of the largest multiracial union victories in the South in decades.

The lead organizer and strategist behind the campaign, Gene Bruskin, will answer questions after the screening.

Thursday, 1/18/2018, 7pm to 9:30pm, University of Washington Communications Building (CMU) Room 120. $10 suggested donation. All are welcome to attend, with or without a donation.
