Description

Julia Dyson Hejduk, the Reverend Jacob Beverly Stiteler Professor of Classics at Baylor University, is a specialist in Latin Poetry with a focus on Roman religion and women in the ancient world. Her books include King of the Wood: The Sacrificial Victor in Virgil’s Aeneid (2001), Clodia: A Sourcebook (2008), The Offense of Love: Ovid’s Ars Amatoria, Remedia Amoris, and Tristia 2 (2014), and The God of Rome: Jupiter in Augustan Poetry, forthcoming from Oxford University Press.  She has also published numerous articles and book chapters on Vergilian and Ovidian topics. Prof. Hejduk will pose the question “Was Virgil Reading the Bible?” and the answer involves a remarkable acrostic!
