Description

On March 8, the Simpson Center welcomes Alondra Nelson, a leading researcher on race and DNA, to campus. She will discuss her book The Social Life of DNA: Race, Reparations, and Reconciliation after the Genome (Beacon, 2016).

For those interested in attending the talk, The Whole U and the Race & Equity Initiative invite you to read Nelson’s book and discuss it together as a way of deepening understanding on this important topic. Let’s connect, build community, and learn together.

The first meet up will take place on Wednesday, February 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Mary Gates Hall 171 – E. Please come to the meeting having read the book’s introduction—and don’t forget to bring your lunch.

The second meeting will be on Monday, March 6, from noon to 1:15 p.m. in Mary Gates Hall 258.  The group will then meet up for Alondra Nelson’s book talk on March 8, at 6:45 p.m. (the talk begins at 7:00 p.m. in Kane Hall 120).
