Author Sandra Evans Presents Her Debut Novel This Is Not A Werewolf Story

Sandra Evans, a writer and teacher from the Pacific Northwest, will give a presentation on her acclaimed debut novel, This is Not a Werewolf Story (Simon & Schuster July 2016) at 4:00pm, February 10th in Communications 226. A reception with light refreshments will follow in CMU 204.

This is Not a Werewolf Story, a middle grade novel, was inspired by Evans’ favorite 12th century French tale, Bisclavret, by Marie de France. It is the story of Raul, a boy guarding a mysterious secret at a boarding school on a Pacific Northwest island. This is Not a Werewolf Story  delves into the historical and genetic roots of the magic that comes alive in its characters and in this landscape. Best-selling children's author Stuart Gibbs says “This Is Not a Werewolf Story is true to its name. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever read before: an intelligent, imaginative, and moving tale, steeped in teenage angst and Native American mythology, full of clever twists and surprises.”

Sandra holds a Ph.D. in French Literature from the University of Washington, and her scholarship on the medieval French epic has appeared in the journals Speculum and Exemplaria. Over the years she has taught courses on medieval literature as well as French language and culture at the University of Washington, the University of Puget Sound, and the Université de Paul Valéry in Montpellier, France.…
