“Distinguishing Necessary and Unnecessary Struggle and Discomfort in Health Sciences Education.” Our plenary speaker is Dr. Lisa Rosenbaum, a practicing cardiologist and National Correspondent for the NEJM. Her recent article on “Being Well while Doing Well” has prompted national dialogue around the changing landscape of medical training. Following the plenary, Dr. Addie McClintock will continue the discussion with a focus on the role that the learning climate plays in a trainee’s ability to learn, and offer ways for us consider a path forward in health professions education. Dr. McClintock is the director of the University of Washington Teaching Scholars Program, and an expert on psychological safety in the clinical learning environment. |
