Description

Climate Change in the Pacific Northwest: How Would Limiting Warming to 1.5 Degrees Compare to Current Global Commitments?

Climate change is already affecting life in the Northwest, and impacts are expected to grow over the coming century. Join the Whole U and a panel of UW scientists on December 5th at 12PM in the HUB room 332 to learn where we are headed regarding temperature extremes, snowpack, and impacts on human health fish and wildlife. The panel will share comparisons on expected impacts from different future emissions scenarios, including current international commitments to limit greenhouse gas emissions. The panel will also present results from the new 1.5 degree Celsius Special Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Prepared by Program on Climate Change and Climate Impacts Group, the panel of UW scientists includes:

Cecilia Bitz, Professor, Atmospheric Sciences and UW Program on Climate Change
Ed Blanchard, Research Assistant Professor, Atmospheric Sciences
Meade Krosby, Research Scientist, UW Climate Impacts Group
