Jess Holbrook Director and Principal Researcher, Generative AI, Meta 10 years finding the role of UX in AI Where did the current moment in AI come from? How did we get here? What is the role of UX in all of this? It can feel like AI came out of nowhere and now dominates tech, products, and the news. It can also feel unclear what the role of UX is in all of this and where a human-centered approach can matter. I've been working at the intersection of AI and UX for the past ten years. In this talk, I'll cover the major technical milestones that got us to this point so you understand how we got here as well as how some of us have been applying a human-centered approach all along - with successes and failures. Jess Holbrook is currently a Director of UX Research on the Generative AI team at Meta. Previously, he was Director and Head of UX Research for Responsible AI at Meta and a founder and lead of Google’s People + AI Research group (PAIR) at Google. Prior to joining Google, he was a UX Researcher at Amazon and Microsoft. He received his Ph.D in Psychology from the University of Oregon and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Washington. |
