Women Engineers Rise (WE Rise) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) are back with the Women Engineers (WE) Professional Mentorship Program (PMP) for our new 2023-2024 academic year. As we prepare for our second year, we are excited to invite industry leaders and professionals to volunteer as mentors for the 2023-2024 PMP. WE PMP provides invaluable guidance and support to our students, helping them navigate the transition from academia to the professional world. We aim to foster a culture of growth, learning and development by connecting motivated students with experienced industry mentors. By offering your time and expertise, you can profoundly impact our students' academic and professional trajectories, empowering them to excel in their chosen fields. The WE PMP will be open to all our undergraduate and graduate women and gender non-conforming students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The WE Rise and SWE program staff will match student mentees with industry mentors. Program Details: Duration: UW Winter and Spring quarters. Commitment: Mentor students throughout a quarter of your choosing and participate in PMP programming. Benefits: Networking opportunities and the chance to shape future industry leaders. Key Details for the 2023-2024 WE PMP: - Kick-Off PMP Reception on Dec. 1st, 2023, Friday, 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: UW-Seattle Campus HUB/Student Union Building Mentors and Mentees (M&M) will get to meet each other. Based on input from all parties on common interest/study, pairings will be finalized by the end of December. - At a minimum, one M&M on-campus event/session will be hosted in the Winter quarter (January 2024) and in the Spring quarter (April 2024).
- M&M pairs will be asked to arrange mutually convenient times to meet at least once a month virtually.
- The two main events are the Fall quarter (to start the program) and the End of Year Celebration in May (end of the program).
