Description

MolES Seminar Series on Biomanufacturing
Biotherapeutic Manufacturing -- Perspectives From Industry
Abstract: Cell therapies offer the potential to revolutionize medicine over the next several decades. For cell therapies to advance from the lab and achieve their therapeutic potential, it will require a manufacturing strategy that addresses several key considerations. These include gaining access to the necessary talent and infrastructure, ensuring the ability to quickly move a product into the clinic, creating alignment with the clinical and regulatory strategy, and, most importantly, developing a deep understanding of the process and product.  Cell therapy manufacturing strategies have largely evolved from the framework established for therapeutic protein manufacturing but currently face unique obstacles due to their relative novelty.  In this discussion, we will draw from my experiences in both protein and cell therapy manufacturing to talk about challenges and considerations in the development of a biomanufacturing strategy.

This weekly seminar brings together students, faculty and invited guests from various disciplines across campus to explore current trends in molecular engineering and nanotechnology. It is a forum for active interdisciplinary discussions. These talks are open to the public and attract a diverse audience of students and faculty.
