You are invited to the first installment to the 2018-2019 Construction Lecture Series this Thursday. We are privileged to have Tom Draeger, the retired president of Bechtel Construction (and UW BSCE 1968) in town to talk to us about International Projects. As a teaser: If you have never seen the Kuwait oil fires in the aftermath of the first Gulf War, you will be amazed at how Bechtel and others put these out in just 8 months when experts thought it would take 5 years.

Tom Draeger, UW BSCE 1968, is a retired senior VP and President of Construction Operations of the Bechtel Group. Tom has had the privilege of working around the world on construction projects of all sorts. He has been to Papua New Guinea, the Ukraine, Russia, Bahrain, and spots throughout the U.S. in his career and has learned quite a bit about working internationally. If you are interested in international work, its challenges, its rewards and how it gets done, come hear Tom talk and bring your questions.
