Description

Can comics make science and engineering more accessible? The students of Human Centered Design & Engineering believe that they can.

With the help of comic artist Jeremy Kayes [The Indies, OverJoyed] and Professor Charlotte P. Lee, thirteen University of Washington students learned to use sequential art to speculate about science and technology in the spirit of Vannevar Bush’s 1945 article in The Atlantic, “As We May Think.” The resulting comics are fun and insightful. From upgrading your memory with computer chips to traveling through time to peek at future technology, HCDE students create narratives about the past, present, and future of scientific innovation and discovery.

Join HCDE on April 14 as we celebrate the third in an annual series of comics books released by HCDE students. See art from the book, talk to the students involved, and pick up your own copy.

Refreshments will be provided.
