Looking to end your day with relaxation and mindful movement? On Wednesday, May 1, join Pranify Yoga for a virtual yoga class from 6 – 6:45 p.m. This evening class will offer you space to stretch, move your body and relax your mind. This class is part of our celebration of UW Student Wellness Week – all UW students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to participate in the class. About the Instructor Marni Yamada completed her 500-hour yoga training in 2002 and has been teaching for 22 years. She takes pride in providing a space to help individuals grow and expand their experience on the mat while supporting an individual’s physical limitations. Before practicing yoga, she competed for fifteen years on the US Snowboard team, World Cup circuit and 8 X-games in snowboarding. Marni’s passion for snowboarding shifted to yoga after a life altering injury in 2001. She broke her T12 vertebrae while snowboarding, barely dodging paralysis. At nineteen years old Marni was physically and emotionally heartbroken. Through her healing journey, Marni participated in yoga to aid with her body’s recovery. Little did she know it would heal more than her body. Yoga opened a doorway to a lifetime of discovery in mind, body and spirit that she continues to share and teach others. Registration on The Whole U Site is required to attend. Thank you to AT&T for sponsoring The Whole U and making events like this possible. |
