Description | UW Center for Child & Family Well-Being is hosting an online 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course, facilitated by Jennifer Hogge, MS, LMFT. Course Description: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. to reduce stress and increase well-being. This immersive 8-week program blends scientific rigor with deep personal exploration. Research consistently shows that MBSR yields positive results across various challenges, from high-stress environments to sleep disturbances, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. Guided by attitudes of kindness, openness, and patience, each week centers around a theme that supports you in applying mindfulness to your unique life circumstances. No previous mindfulness meditation practice is needed! Dates and times: Monday evenings, September 23 – November 18, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:30 PM (No class on November 11th for Veterans Day) Retreat: Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM Registration is required prior to the start of class.
