Description

**This class has been rescheduled from March 12, 2020, moved to a virtual format, and shortened in length. The title has also been changed from "Pruning for Restoration Sites, Natural Areas, and Trailsides"  to "Taking the Edge Off:  Sustainable Pruning & Stewardship for Natural Area Trail Sides".**

The focus of this 2-hour webinar will be on how to manage and prune native vegetation adjacent to trails, drives, and streets for optimal environmental functions, appearance, safety, & visibility.

We will cover the current best pruning practices and how they translate for the specific vegetation goals and functions of natural area plantings. Considerations for reducing long-term labor needs and how to lengthen the time between pruning cycles will be covered, along with common pruning techniques that are ineffective and why. We will wrap up with a look at some examples of common trail side vegetation situations and how to determine an effective pruning and vegetation management program. Vital takeaway lessons will be how to work in a way that achieves clearance and visibility requirements while honoring the natural structure and appearance of the plants.

This online class will be delivered using Zoom. New to Zoom or need more information? Get Started Here.
