Clinical Psychology Researcher, UCLA

How Big Data and Digital Mental Health Can Help Make Personalized Treatment a Reality
As the Director of the Depression Grand Challenge Tech Suite for Online Therapy, Zachary Cohen is leading an effort to build a transdiagnostic suite of web-based cognitive behavioral therapy modules. By adapting existing evidence-based interventions for depression, anxiety, trauma, and sleep, and by using a toolbox of mobile therapy apps to improve engagement and facilitate measurement-based care, this project aims to deliver personalized modular therapy. The digital treatment will be evaluated in the context of a two-site randomized clinical trial of a tiered mental healthcare system for college students that includes a preventative digital intervention as well as high-intensity face-to-face treatment. These efforts, along with several large individual patient-data meta-analytic projects, are part of a larger program of research that uses data-driven approaches to improve patient outcomes.

This free lecture is  part of the candidate review for an assistant professor position in Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychology.
