Description

At the UW Foster School of Business, we teach and practice leadership every day. Alumni, students, faculty and the greater Foster community have access to local, regional, and world-renowned leaders who shape the way we do business. The Leaders to Legends Breakfast Lecture Series spotlights leaders from various industries.

Leslie Phinney is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Phinney Bischoff, an integrated boutique brand strategy and design firm with offices in Seattle, WA and Sun Valley, ID. For over 36 years, Phinney Bischoff has been a leader in effective, creative and solution-driven design.

Established in 1982, Phinney Bischoff was founded on the belief that good design is informed by research. Leslie’s research-based approach has attracted many leading brands for strategic counsel including Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Nelson Mandela Foundation, BECU, Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Symphony, Premera, and the Allen Institute for Brain Science.

Leslie has received numerous creative awards including Awards of Excellence from the International Association of Business Communicators, Communication Arts and American Institute of Graphic Arts.

Benson Porter has more than 25 years of experience within the financial services industry and became the President/CEO of BECU in April 2012.

He currently serves on the Boards of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle/Des Moines, COOP Financial Services and CU Direct.

Having learned about financial co-operatives early in his regulatory and public policy career, Benson joined the credit union industry when he became CEO of Addison Avenue Federal Credit Union (the former Hewlett-Packard credit union) in Palo Alto, California. Addison Avenue FCU later merged to become First Tech Federal Credit Union where Benson served as its President and CEO.

Mr. Porter holds a BA in Economics from Whitman College and received his Juris Doctorate from Seattle University.
