PresenterHolly Kennell, Master Gardener

Over the many years that Master Gardener Holly Kennell helped gardeners troubleshoot problems with their landscape plants, she realized that certain trees and shrubs came into clinics frequently. Other, equally popular plants seldom showed up with disease or insect problems. She chose many of these trouble-free plants for her own landscape, since she didn’t like fussing with fungicides and insecticides. Recognizing that others might like to learn about which plants are less prone to trouble, she created a fact sheet and PowerPoint to promote some of her favorite evergreen and deciduous woody plants. Whether you are designing a new landscape or just redoing a piece of an existing landscape, you may find just the right plant at this talk.

Holly Kennell has degrees from both UW (B.S. in botany) and WSU (Masters in adult education with a teaching specialty in horticulture). After several years of landscape maintenance and retail nursery work, Holly began working for WSU Extension first as a diagnostician, then as a MG program assistant and finally as a Community Horticulture Agent. She is now retired, but continues volunteering as a WSU Master Gardener.
