Join the ASUW Asian Student Commission (ASC) and the UW Jackson School Student Association (JSSA) for a screening of the documentary Badass Beauty Queen: The Story of Anastasia Lin
challenging the concept of beauty on the Miss World platform. With support from the Center for Global Studies.

The screening will be followed by an in-depth discussion with Anastasia Lin, human rights activist and Miss World Canada 2016, who will share about her mission and challenges via live video.

About the film:
Badass Beauty Queen tells the story of Anastasia Lin, the former Miss World Canada, whose public advocacy made her the only contestant barred from entering China for the Miss World competition finale. Her activism has landed her widespread coverage including The New York Times and the United Nations.

About Anastasia Lin:
Anastasia Lin is an award-winning actress, beauty pageant titleholder, and human rights advocate. Lin has appeared in over 20 films and television productions. Her films have received the Gabriel Award for Best Feature Film, the Mexico International Film Festival’s Golden Palm Award, and California’s Indie Fest Award of Merit. Lin also won the Best Leading Actress in a TV Movie at the Leo Awards in 2016. As a model, she’s made appearances on runways around the world, including the New York Fashion Week show at the prestigious Waldorf-Astoria.
