Presenter: Rick Lorenz, Senior Lecturer, Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies

This presentation will explore  several questions surrounding recent air strikes in Syria, including: What was the legal basis for the strikes?  Did they violate international law?  And were they part of a long term US political strategy?

Rick Lorenz served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 27 years as a judge advocate. He has also served as a senior legal advisor for the United Nations in Somalia, a legal adviser to NATO in Bosnia, and a UN legal affairs officer in Kosovo. His current courses include International Humanitarian Law and International Law and the Use of Force.
