Mary Larimer, PhD, University of Washington
College-Student Alcohol Misuse: Myths, Facts, and Effective Prevention Strategies
Alcohol misuse by college students is an important public health concern, associated with numerous deaths, injuries, assaults, and academic consequences that impair both the learning environment and campus-community relations. Professor Larimer will review both causes and consequences of alcohol misuse by students and discuss important advances in prevention to improve college student health.

Robert Turrisi, PhD, Pennsylvania State University
Examining the Role of Parents on College-Student Alcohol Etiology and Prevention

Dr. Turrisi will discuss parental influence on the etiology of college-student drinking and examine the efficacy of parent-based interventions designed to reduce risky drinking. Finally, he’ll discuss the current state of research on parenting and college-student alcohol use, its limitations, and future directions.

Registration is now open.

These lectures are made possible by generous endowments by Professors Allen L. Edwards and Roger B. Loucks.
