Description

The Joys and Challenges of Doing Fieldwork in a Presidential Campaign

The talk will explore the challenges of studying two rival presidential campaign teams and how to navigate them. But it is not all about challenges -- there is also fun in watching a campaign unfold. Please come with your questions about fieldwork and we will talk through them.

Matthew Adeiza is a PhD candidate in the Department of Communication. He studies the impact of digital media on political campaigning in Sub-Saharan Africa. Particularly, he is interested in why and how campaigns adopt/adapt digital media, and how they affect the campaigns and their relationships with voters. His research investigates campaign innovation and the implications for a multi-ethnic society. He employs a multi-method, cross-national approach to studying the relationship between digital media and democracy consolidation.
