Description

This all day workshop will include information specific to arborists working around construction. The class is appropriate for Commercial Arborists, Consultants, and Professionals in related fields such as Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Planning. The workshop will be 75% indoors with lecture and group activities. We will go outdoors to look at tree preservation examples near the classroom.

We will learn to read basic information from building plans and how to communicate using plans. We will learn how to interpret specifications, and how to question and change specifications when necessary in a diplomatic manner. We will discuss and learn terms used by various professionals that arborists regularly communicate with: Architects, Landscape Architects, Engineers, Planners, Demolition Contractors, Landscape Installation Contractors, and Property Owners.

We will review basic Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) and learn how to understand a site's history through visual clues.
