The SER-UW Native Plant nursery has an inventory of 2400 plants native to the Lower Puget Sound forests and prairies. Plants are from plant salvages around the county, donated by local businesses, campus research projects or classes, or started from collected seeds. Mature plants are used in on campus restoration projects at Whitman Walk and Kincaid Ravine or sold to the public. Weekly work parties engage student volunteers in plant maintenance and basic horticulture activities. It is a fun and positive learning experience for all interested in coming. We provide the gloves, tools and snacks. Volunteers should come ready to work, get dirty, and bring a water bottle.
