Description | The Twenty First Annual Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies Northwest Conference Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. This year's theme is “Between East and West: Identity, Opportunity, and Security in the Post-Communist World” The Ellison Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies at the University of Washington is currently soliciting papers, panels or roundtable presentations for this one-day interdisciplinary conference. Proposals from faculty, K-12 educators, graduate students and members of the general public are all welcome. Contributions are encouraged on area studies, literature, the fine arts, the environment, post-Soviet foreign policy, historical research, economics, national identity or any other relevant subjects. The conference will also feature a track for K-12 educators teaching area languages at the K-12 level. Presentations on best practices, curriculum and other relevant issues regarding instruction of area languages at the K-12 level are especially welcome. K-12 educators are not required to submit a paper, but must submit an abstract by the March 30, 2015 deadline. To present at this conference please complete the Call for Papers, including your presentation abstract, by March 30, 2015. |
