Ever wanted to picture yourself in Seattle as it was 50 or 100 years ago?

The Timera app lets users do just that, by blending a new photo into an old one of the same place. Now, seattlepi.com has teamed up with Timera, University of Washington Libraries and Grryo on a photo contest in Seattle from July 26 through Aug. 31.

Thanks to UW, users can choose among dozens of photos taken from the city's beginnings through 1962 -- the year of the Century 21 Exposition. The pictures show mix of neighborhoods and include such milestones as the Great Seattle Fire, in 1889, and the Alaska–Yukon–Pacific Exposition, in 1909.

Contest Details: From July 26 - August 31, the Seattle PI is teaming up with UW Libraries, Grryo, and timera to bring a time travel photography event to our city. Timera is a photo app for your smartphone like no other.

All taken and edited on the mobile phone, these pictures give an insight to the history that exists all around us. You can even step into history and put yourself in the photo! The best timeras (re-photographs) submitted by our readers will be printed in the Seattle PI.

UW Libraries has uploaded over 150 historic Seattle photos to the timera database. We are hoping you put together some amazing timeras from Seattle and the surrounding area.
